Sometimes the coincidence of the entries I read being so on-point with the thoughts going through my mind is uncanny.
I’ve been thinking a lot this morning about how there are so many parts of Twitter that I enjoy, yet at the same time it can drive me nuts because I let in, and fall prey to, the worst parts until I am questioning not only myself but why I am even bothering with social media in general.
This quote from the text today says it all:
We have the ability to put our guard up and decide what we actually allow in. Uninvited guests might arrive at your home, but you don’t have to ask them to stay for dinner. You don’t have to let them into your mind.
So that’s where Stoicism comes into play, where we use our rational mind to control what we let in and how much. The idea that we can just shut out the world is unrealistic. But we do have the say-so in how much we let in.
